Recordkeeping Awareness Training

Recordkeeping Awareness Training Logo

What is RAT?

RAT is an on-line training course that will tell you lots of very important information about your record keeping responsibilities as an employee of the University.

The entire course consists of two modules which can be undertaken over a series of sittings or all at once.  From start to finish the whole package only takes about an hour to complete and because it’s online you can take the course at your own pace at times that suit you.

Who is RAT for?

Everyone!  RAT is relevant to ALL staff, as each and every UWA staff member has certain recordkeeping responsibilities they need to be aware of.

All Staff who request access to the University’s records management system TRIM will be enrolled in RAT. Managers and Directors are requested to provide adequate time for new staff to undertake this very important training as part of their induction to UWA.  Existing staff are also encouraged to undertake the training as part of their professional development.

What’s in it for me?

RAT is a fast, fun course that will give you information that will save you time, prevent you from taking unnecessary risks and assist you in decision making.  It answers many recordkeeping questions including
• What is a record?
• What are my legal responsibilities regarding recordkeeping?
• How long do I need to keep emails before I can delete them?
• What should I file?

You even get a certificate at the end!

So happy RATting!
