Overview | Collection Policy | Holdings & Volume of Business Overview of our CollectionSince its establishment, the University Archives has brought together records from all parts of the University and the wider community. Today, the collection reflects the working life, achievements and celebrations of the University from 1913 to the present day. Featured in the collection are: - Minutes and agenda of the Standing and other committees of the University
- Significant central administration files from 1913 to the 1960's
- Early financial records of the University
- University Examination registers, including Public Examination Board records from 1913 to 1974
- Personal papers and memorabilia of former students and staff
- Festival of Perth, Adult Education and the University Extension records
- Records of Convocation and the Graduate Association
- Student sporting clubs and societies
- Photographs relating to the University; its buildings, staff, students, notable visitors and special events
- Oral history tapes and transcripts
- Drawings and plans of the University, including the Hackett Building Competition drawings.

Our Collection PolicyThe University Archives shall collect and maintain records in the following areas: - Minutes, reports and memoranda of all major academic and administrative committees, including the Senate, the Professorial Board, Convocation, the Academic Council and related committees; Faculty and Departmental Committees and other administrative committees
- Records of the Registrar's Office including correspondence, subject files and reports, admission data, timetables, examination and graduation reports and statistics
- Records of the Vice Chancellery including correspondence, subject files and reports
- All student records including enrolment, examination and graduation details
- Research, personal and published papers of private persons, including retired, resigned or deceased academics and administrative staff, students, Senate members, benefactors and other persons associated with the University
- Architectural maps and plans, reports, correspondence relating to the University buildings and properties
Faculty and Departmental records, not duplicated by Central Administration, and deemed to have historical or administrative value - Audio visual materials documenting the development of the institutions such as still photographs and negatives, motion picture film, oral histories and video tapes.
Note that all published works reflecting the life of the University are housed separately in the University Collection at the Scholars' Centre in the Reid Library. Return to Top
Holdings and Volumes of Business Currently, the University Archives holds more than 600 shelf metres of records. The major activities supported by the University Archives include the retrieval of items from storage (20 to 50 items per week) and responses to enquiries (approximately 20 per week). Return to Top |
